Welcome to InValnerina.it, a site dedicated to those who wish to discover the beauty and richness of the Nera Valley.
Here you can discover unusual places off the beaten tourist track
. This blog collects my explorations of the territory in search of evidence of human history.
I try to unite people’s history with the history that has been etched into the walls and houses of the Valnerina. I also explore the peculiarities of the plants and animals that inhabit the valley, remembering that we are only guests in these places and must behave accordingly.

The Valnerina: a hidden treasure of unchanging beauty
It is divided into upper, middle and lower Valnerina. It also borders to the east from the Tronto valley, to the west with the upper Velino valley, while to the south with the Piana Reatina and culminates in the north on the Sibillini mountains. In fact, to the south, the Valnerina opens onto the Terni basin touching the Martani mountains and then closes again on the Nera gorges, near Narni.
Therefore a few kilometers after the Nera (female because it is a Nymph) dives into the Tiber near the Roman ruins of the city of Ocriculum. Obviously there are fantastic places known to all, tourist attractions such as the Marmore waterfall, Cascia, Norcia, Castelluccio, Spoleto and much more.
However, here you will find only those hidden places, silent witnesses of time just waiting to be rediscovered.
